An Open Mic at Queen Bean WOW

I just got home from Queen Bean Coffee House. It was Open Mic tonight with Nick from Not an Airplane. Nick is doing such a wonderful job with that. Me, I caught just the last few sets there & OMG There is so much great talent here in Modesto! From what I heard friends, Tonight was one of the most packed open Mics this year. Perhaps its because its from such great weather we are having, or maybe its because Nick is the master when it comes to open Mic at Queen Bean. Or, perhaps its because I look great in a Banana Suit! Smiles. Anywho, I just wanted to send a warm thank you to Nick & all of you for making Queen Bean your Coffee House of choice for open mic. Poetry Slam: The Chill List

After a year of hard work perfecting their 3 minute performance poems, your 2006 Modesto Slam Team will be hosting our annual fundraiser: "The Chill List" at the Queen Bean Coffeehouse downtown. Here's your chance to enjoy the team in an informal setting as they debut some group work and have fun with old favorites. After the team feature, there will be an open mic. Since there isn't any scoring, it's YOUR chance to take center stage and rip a poem! Now's the time to gather your courage and see what it's like to share your writing without the critical judges.

Open Mic, Open Stage at The Mainzer!

Mainzer Theater is hosting it's open mic, open stage! The rules are simple: No mroe than two people on stage at a time, only 10 minutes, no drum sets (Hand drums are okay). Get there early because the list fills up fast for timeslots!

Open Mic Night at The Mainzer Theater!

We here at The Mainzer Theater had such a great success with our first Open Mic Night that we are going to be holding it again...almost every Tuesday! (Exceptions being holidays and a few other random weeks) The format is simple...each performer gets max 10 minutes on stage to do what they will, to express themselves through some form of art (Song, poem, guitar, comedy, rap, monolouge). The limitations are that a maximum of two performers on stage at a time (No bands), and no drum sets. Bongos, congas are alright though.
