FREE education event on Eating Disorders, Sept 11

My friend Scott Hill arranges Colina Health Education presentations on health and mental health topics of interest in our community. The latest one is scheduled Sept 11, free to public, on Eating Disorders, what they are, what one can do. If you know someone with this issue, good place to get information, as that is what Scott's effort is about, education on these topics.

Chessplayer in town, what to do for your birthday, AARP and other items

My brother Larry, still in top ten of US Chessplayers, former US champ 3 times visiting here from Boston, to see mom, and my birthday, has been taking a bit of time out from his tournament schedule, to revisit hardly his hometown as some have claimed, but where we moved to from Riverside, now 30 years ago, and see mom. Some of his schedule involves playing Golf with my brother who works at the City's parks dept. and he was so damned excited, scored his first birdie out in Escalon. Use that course beginners, they have been trying to drag me out there all week, since the used clubs showed up for my birthday, year 2 of my AARP eligibility.

Short update for Modesto Blues Festival, fun day at SOS Club

Great seeing the crowd, we had pretty good water sales, water donated by Sierra Water, our group raising money, National Alliance for the Mentaly Ill, Stanislaus, primary beneficiary this year, California Donor Transplant Network, silent auction guitar was autographed by the players in attendance, had a pretty good bid at the time I left.

Comment from Commonality, Art Show and Benefit at Queen Bean, Aug 26 and 27, call for artists

I received this Comment from Christine at my myspace profile, and not finding the announcement in Modesto Famous, thought I would post it for my Art Show myspace friend, as likely listed in the events, Commonality is doing a good thing adding to the exhibition for local artists, supporting a local venue like Queen Bean which has entered into a diversity of events, as has Deva, and just to get this call for donations, call to artists to participate, and for friends to come check it out, posted on Modesto Famous. Art in the community is important.
