Hey Modesto.. Looks like the Modesto Bee will be closing their printing press here in Modesto and your local paper will be coming from Sacramento. My phone is still on fire here, but IM trying to get the latest 411 on this for you as of now! Friends, Please pray that this isn’t so. The Modesto Bee at one time had about 700 employees under their wing. We just can’t afford to lose any more jobs here locally people..

Because of what I do for a living you would think I would automaticaly support prop 2. The Farm animals Initiatve..........but as of this moment I am not convinced it is in the best interest of Californians. I, however, could be persuaded if I had more information. As of this post all requests for more information from the supporters of Prop 2 have not been replied to...

Women's Business Networking group at DEVA, 2nd and 4th Mondays (and men)

Women's Business Networking Group meetings (men are welcome too) are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at Deva Cafe, 1202 J St., Modesto.

Breakfast is at 9 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30.

Where? It’s on our local Public Access Channel. See everything from a Job Board to cool episodes by the MPD as well as some cool works by our city officials. Other things to look for our, the office of education doings, adoptable pet show chase, City of Modesto visitors bureau info, Modesto city council meetings, The Modesto planning commission, The Cancer Report, The Stanislaus Planning Commission, Modesto Crime Live and our Holiday Events/Parades. I just watched the MPD Equestrian Division and I very much enjoyed it.

Modesto Nuts Charity Golf Tournament

Sending over an email I got from my friend, it’s all about spreading the word for my friends over at The Modesto Nuts, The United Way & for my Community

The Modesto Nuts are holding our inaugural charity golf tournament to benefit the United Way of Stanislaus County on Monday, July 28th at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club. The 4-person scramble will begin with lunch, 18 holes of golf on a beautiful course and a catered dinner to cap the evening. Individual entries are $125 with foursomes available for $450. A sponsorship flyer is attached if you are interested in becoming a part of the festivities on July 28th. We are always looking for fun donations and prizes to make the event memorable for all involved. If you can assist in anyway, the Modesto Nuts and the United Way of Stanislaus County will be grateful. Thank you for your support of the Modesto community and we hope to see you on the greens!

Looks like we are going to be part of a Historical Tradition here in Modesto tomorrow. Look for me in the 4th of July Parade! Hurray! Me, I will dress up like the Statue of Liberty and Run around sporting some double DD’s and handing out flags. LOL NO, not really..

City Council to vote on entertainment law

The Modesto City Council on Tuesday is scheduled to vote on a new entertainment law that would govern clubs, bars and music venues.
It would:
* Create a seven-person commission to weigh requests for entertainment permits
* Apply to all of Modesto, not just downtown
* Require entertainment venues to pay for an annual permit, likely to be at least $250
* Oblige venues to submit an operations plan as a condition of the permits
* Set up penalties for venues that violate the terms of their permits
This has been a long time coming. Here's a story I wrote on the proposal in The Bee three months ago.

A volunteer commission that gets to draw boundaries for next year's City Council elections wants to hear from you about what those districts should look like.
I covered the commission's public meeting in The Bee Sunday. There's a great web site at www.drawmodesto.org where you can look at population data and submit your idea about how the boundaries should be set.

Help Blues Frog and Peer to Peer Recovery art do some recycling

Keena Wells and I had to help front some materials, painting time, for organizations helping with the Blues Festival, and a group that was going to help us get our festival in with Strawberry, Earth Day, actually do cans and recycling spot and sort, didn't happen, but we've been part of the Dumpster Divers Union, or professional recycler sole proprietors, and will have some bags for plastic, as we know the number of bottled water we have as staff, and cans, not supposed to have glass in the park, but last year our festival, with some guests with the black bags, as it is free event, and crew did leave the premises in pretty good shape, and recycling some plastic, gets Keena some more paints, helps us recoup some costs to a nice donor who help out cause we were working for, be able to extend that $20 again, if we get that much in plastic bottles, and keep our art venue pretty clean, challenge rest of crew to help us.

Hello Modesto Famous Readers. Some of you know that our nonprofit fundraiser choice for Modesto Blues Festival and United Community Walk, is NAMI Stanislaus, stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness. Its not the only volunteer group I work with on this topic, but in resuming my work in art, I won't deny, I've been a downtown area resident who has been in crisis before, such my friends, family noiced, and so here is something to note.
