Riverbank Art Walk and Chalk drawing contest comes up August 28, but first its specials for Third Thursday Art Walk. Eric Benson and friends play music for Art Walk, at State Theatre Funky Tim, and 25 venues open for art walk in downtown Modesto.

Women's Business Networking Group meetings (men are welcome too) are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at Deva Cafe, 1202 J St., Modesto.

Breakfast is at 9 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30.

Hot enough for everyone, or too hot..... well, almost a dip in art walk patrons by the places I was, but hardy crowd that were out, in a pretty good mood, in for the air conditioning, and glad they came out. If you missed the State Show last night, you missed nice use of the stage, bombshell by Pauline and some Keena Wells framing Modesto Bass, some screwups from our first century degree weather, as some additional music on the streets, had Joelle Maddyson make a quick sound check appearance, always good to see her, sad to see her have to leave for the un air conditioned spot on the Street, but music out there on Photographers Gallery corner, and seemed a good crowd for Young Masters show there. I was in our own hot water, as Pauline's MJC photo project, involved the male nude figure, and had these award shots from her classes and shown there, and having to try and explain also, the spot she was in, should be the featured stage spot to see Solo Bass in action, and... they were up, people enjoyed the work, even scary works, which we note Peter Kanestrom sold four, and too hot in the other corner of the top of theatre, David Morgan moved down, we had a great and hot art demo by David Bienkowsky, some good work by Jack McBride, and got a call from Bob Shootenpics Nelson, game gone on, got stuck on assignment, so we redid the show mid art walk, to fill some easels, as for some, health in jeopardy to come out in the heat, and some disorganization as art walk returned to 5 p.m. start in most venues, and good night for me, with first little works sale over at Clayton's, where Keena chillin' as host, working on a new work, as he's sold three recently from the crayon series, as we did blues, music theme, with that Dream Girls painting of Keena's that barely fits in the car, a small Jack Morris Robben Ford, likely involved in a trade to attend Chris Cain on Saturday. Music, well we must have invited Randy Marshall on solo bass, as he was first to buy one of Peter's black and white originals, so you get how this ties in to bass with art....... he wished his part of the bay area doing an event like ours. Penny Meyer had her Carl Robinson painting finished with the varnish on, Judith Cochran a couple of her collages after her first Blue Monday drawing session, and I got talked to on a blues band commission for a friend who has my art on her refrigerator door, so all in all a good night, and still made it to chat with Penny, Sandy, and Christine and Lorena over at DEVA at the after party, found out Steve Kenworthy had come down to Crow Trading but not the State, where I had my framed slam on rye, and portrait of Steve playing his Wednesday gig at P. Wexford's ready to hand out. So, music on the sidewalks, artists, some did pretty well, crowd unable to leave for the air conditioning, with the what they wanted to see, hang out with, so another monthly success on a very hot night. Me, it was too hot in the house, so wrote up the column for Chris Murphy, ever in evidence with the camera while I forgot to bring mine with me. I'll have scan of Norman Ham's new show of WWII stuff, at Trewin May 15, 16 for Art Walk up next blog, but stop in and see the photography for that one.

Was out and about with favorite friend to meet up with for messing about downtown, enjoyed Senor Taco first of the raffle prizes to use from Mistlin Show. I bought four raffle tickts at the Spring Show opening, won three raffle prizes, so also artel, wine for mom's day dinner I'm cooking.

Lori Snable's work won best of show, and I've seen it, was my favorite among entries as I walked in, but may be subject to People's Choice award, in case you hit voting spot at Mistlin's Gala tonight for Spring Show, or during show run. Kate Jackson won category where I'm in with two.

I've been framing pics today, for the Visually Impaired Persons Support Center show tomorrow, 9 am to 4 pm, had this sale to partner of one rejected from Spring Show, took the two back from last show, took in the three for Sping Show, tired of art I decided to take a break, see a real show, with art by Angry F on the walls. I'm working on my follow up to my letter to the editor of the Modesto Bee yesterday of the idea of that train and hwy 33 overpass into that park in Patterson in front of City Hall, like Bambi meets Godzilla and how to draw that one out..... so was ready from some time at DEVA. compare my shots to Efren J's.
