How do people survive without medical insurance? **Feedback requested please**

Just yesterday I received an itemized statement for my stay at UCSF Medical Center a couple of weeks ago. I also received a statement from the company that took me on a one hour and 10 minute helicopter ride to Roseville where I needed to receive care.

Helicopters and ambulances and all that hype!

Well, I thought that I was getting a bit healthier. I was wrong. Again. Anyway, I was visiting family last week and about 1:00 a.m. Monday morning something gave way in my esophagus. I'll spare you all the exciting gory details. I was rushed from their home to a local hospital by ambulance, spent about two hours at that hospital and then I was flown to Roseville for further care. I thought that the whole medical helicopter trip would be interesting. I was wrong. Again.

Thanks! Now go eat and enjoy some great music!

I just wanted to thank everyone who has sent voice messages and e-mails my way. I am still in San Francisco and getting tested for just about every illness under the sun! I hope that all of you are well.

Here we go again...

It is close to five in the morning here and I can't seem to sleep. It is Monday Morning and a Holiday, but my family and I will not be enjoying any camping or boating today. Actually, maybe some of you would consider what my parents and I are doing right now to be camping, but I don't. I would much rather have awakened in the woods somewhere in the midst of the scent of pine or redwood.

Photographers Gallery Workshops, Digital College in July to September

Likely these are workshops I need to take, camera inept as I am. jim

For Motown Mojo and his Modestofamous.com photographer group, and others who need to learn more about photography, from one of my favorite stops on the Third Thursday Art Walk, or anytime they're open during the month.

Let's do this!

It is Sunday evening at about 11:00 and I have been thinking about what to write in this post all weekend. The first thing that I need to say is thank you to all the people who left emails, voice mails and happy thoughts for me. You never know how many people truly care until you are face down on the canvas and the referee is trying to count you out. I guess I'm just not ready to be counted out just yet, but my back is certainly up against the ropes. I'm a fighter though and I will win my battle. Maybe I need one of those insane Mike Tyson face tattoos!

Got the Mojo at Valenti, Speak Easy been to Clayton's Monday Blue Flu walk

well, its oddly enough, art night.... Monday, specifically the second monday of the month, not to be confused with prospect theatre and slam on rye, though I like that hooker looker poetic ode to farmer's market, as saw Paul Tremayne with organic foods tee while not at Concetta's, and might as well admit, I read it on Sam's myspace blog, but that's all second wednesday, and this is Tuesday, apparently the Benny Green after party is at Clayton's, I'll be drawing at Chartreuse Muse, which is not where we were this evening, http://www.johnhewittart.com might explain it, I was late to a Central California Art Association 2nd Monday, members workshop speaker art demo meeting, where John did see my only painting up in current members show, and commented in mid demo on watercolors, compliment.....

Getting to know local artist Jon Valenti

It has been a while since I have done a feature piece on a local artist and it's about time for me to do just that. Local artist, Jon Valenti has spent the last year refining his skills and is about to release his freshman CD, "Grin and Bury It." It is my hope that people who know Valenti will get to know him a bit better through this interview and that our readers that have yet to hear of him get to know a rising star from right here in the valley.

Aloha from Kona, Hawaii!

Aloha Modesto! I am checking in from Kona, Hawaii. After spending a great deal of September in the hospital I decided to take a break and travel with my Father to Kona, Hawaii to visit an aunt. The air here is clean and the people have been very nice. People are very relaxed. It is a whole new way of life and I love it!

Finally out of the hospital!

After a week of staring at the same walls and laying in the same bed, I am back. I missed the site very much and intend to get busy and breathe some life back into it. Thank you to everyone who called to check on me and to those that sent email. That sure meant the world to me!
