The June Art Walk Maps are out at the various art walk locations, and via Downtown Improvement District, and the maps can be used during the full month, not just the Third Thursday event night, with some coupon specials, addresses and locations of the downtown galleries and businesses supporting the art walk.

Worth the service?

Modesto Bee had several quotes from local service providers of food and drink, regarding congress and its consideration of new minimum wage provisions, that might make our friends in waitressing and bartending take their minimum wage increases out of the tip jar, not a real raise in hourly wage from their employer.

Fresh new produce is coming... we are off to a late start

Here we are, in what feels like late in the game. The late spring rains damaged what could have been an awesome produce season. I love to cook with farm fresh produce. There is something so special about knowing exactly where your food comes from and who grows it. I have been fortunate to know Brian Kline of Kline Organic Produce.

It was reported in the The Bee today that the City Council is still considering raising fees for outdoor dining areas that are popular with downtown restaurants. The good news here is that the vote has been pushed back to April.
