Generally I don’t pay to much attention at the water bill when it comes in, but our last water bill went up $15.00! WOW! It’s not like we waste water here, in fact we only water our lawns for 10 minutes and are not in the habit of washing our own cars. We do the prime shine thing to save money, time and water. I guess the new water meters that where installed at our home are paying off for the water police. Smiles.. » read more

¾ point cut Opportunity Knocking
OK so the Stock Market is plummeting and investors are scrambling. The Feds just dropped the interest rate to the lowest since 1991 Ultimately this looks like great news for families who might want to refinance their homes to save huge on interest and perhaps pay it off sooner then planned. Stock Market has always been a gamble for most and real-estate has always been more of my speed. Still, its always best to never keep all your eggs in one basket. The County is holding a public hearing on selling Stanislaus Behavioral Health Center on Claus Rd, where you go if you get locked up for mental health reasons, inpatient, to Tenet, i.e. Doctor's Med Center parent company, somewhat controversial, maybe bee reporters would like to fill us in on it in advance, or post your comments on this, or better, mail to Board of Supervisors or show up for meeting. » read more

Ok...I realize that was officially the worst headline ever but I am trying folks! Anyway, The Bee is reporting this morning that support for a proposed sales tax increase is falling rapidly. Apparently, when the tax was first discussed over 70 percent of those polled throughout the county thought that it should be put through. Now for some reason, less than 50 percent seem to feel that way. » read more
The city is seeking $250,000.00 in funding from The Federal Transit Administration to repair bus stops and bird-proof the downtown transit center on 9th Street because I guess birds "poop on passengers" as they wait for their buses. » read more
Acording to The Bee, Modesto residents may soon be asked to vote on whether ot not to increase the cost of their storm drain bills. The article states that some city council members are thinking about a nickel or dime increase in the bills while some city staffers seem to think an increase of $3 to $4 dollars per month is more appropriate. The estimate from the city staffers would practically double the current rate. » read more
It was reported in the The Bee today that the City Council is still considering raising fees for outdoor dining areas that are popular with downtown restaurants. The good news here is that the vote has been pushed back to April. » read more
