Local Venues Freeze the Locals out...

I have been hearing a lot of rumors lately regarding the amount of money the new music and art venues are charging to rent their buildings. The news is not good. To rent the Gallo Center it is going to cost over $2000 a night just for rent and not including other charges. To rent the State Theater the charges are going to be about the same. What are these people trying to do? They are going to lock all the non-profits amd local companies out. Its a shame that the aristocrats of the town that build new buildings "for the community" with slogans like "art for all now" fail to actually make it possible for community organizations like the Propect Theater Project be able to afford them. I am not sure if Prospect would even be interested in utilizing them (so don't assume that I know if they do or not), but it would be nice if it was at least available to them if they wanted it. Not to mention I would love to see more theater in these state of the art facilities. That is good for the community. Why not have special rates for local theater companies based on the amount of money they bring in? I am a theater nut and would love to go more often.
