Sam PIerstorff, The Final Days As Poet Laureate of Modesto

I guess Ed Bearden the new poet laureate be ok, but I just put him in the letter to the editor, as he's the new appointee to be Poet Laureate of Modesto and because Slam on Rye, and outgoing poet laureate Sam Pierstorff has some "juice" with the Bee, finally got a cartoon on their editorial page in the Print edition. See a printed copy of the Bee, better than the online version. Anyway, the "retired" er, fir/. uh, Ed got the next term, after four years great service from Sam. So, my letter, version of gold watch, which is same drawing in gilded frame I was going to drop by his office at MJC, only to still have it to give him July 12.

Rosalie Sorrels with Cowboy Poets Wendy Brown-Barry, Mick Vernon, and John Silveira

Rosalie Sorrels is considered a matriarch of American folk music. She began her public career as a singer and collector of traditional folksongs in the late 1950s. During the early 1960s she left her husband and began traveling and performing at music festivals and clubs throughout the United States. Nanci Griffith chronicled this aspect of Rosalie's life with her song "Ford Econoline." Currently "retired," she still performs in select concerts and festivals. Her career of social activism, storytelling, teaching, learning, songwriting, collecting folk songs, performing, and recording has spanned six decades.

thanks for coming out, we did sell some art

Well, musicians seemed in short supply last night, if you were out on art walk, noticed reschedule or cancels, there is a virus around, and so if you stopped into see Dave Hanley at the State last night, found me talking to Rachel Renae and Hippie Dave, I was trying to get Rachel to sing without amp, go get her guitar, or start down the list of who's available on short notice. In case bonilla wafer noted a call from Rachel, that was us...... we called Mike with DAM, a number of others to no avail...

I've had to spend the day with JB and Tim White as we went up on business, including art at the California Institute of Mental Health, Integrated services conferences, and art show, where mention of Modesto Blues Festival, the Downtown Third Thursday Art Walk, etc, some of the projects many of our friends with Recovery and mental wellness, been out and about, benefitting from the experience in our community.

Art Walk is this Thursday, and calls for artists

Downtown Famer's Market will be doing art spot with the market, June 14. Call for artists slated to end April 17, get those reservations for $30 spot in.

National Poetry Month, so we added Do Dirty, frequent Slam on Rye poet, and winner of the Second Wednesday event, this month sponsored and theme by Havens Womens Center. Poets welcome to drop by the State for art walk.

Support Live Theatre, buy art in Patterson, then go to Oakdale

Support Local Theatre. Buy art by local artists in Patterson, downtown for Patterson Repertory Company, and some of the artists on display from Third Thursday Art Walk. This is a fundraiser for both, so bring you atm card, wallets, check books, only $25 or $30 at door I believe at the 4th Annual Patterson Repertory Company Art and Wine Gala. Anyway, Saturday, that's tommorow Night, 6 to 10 p.m.
