I found out just yesterday.... From a close reliable source, that Modesto rap artist Chance formely with the group 3 Strikes, a hip hop trio signed to M.P.R. Entertainment based in Modesto, Ca. June 16th 2008 police responded to a hit in which the local rappers wife was involved in a hit and run located in East Modesto.

I do read other blogs, articles here, not just write them, and this one is one that affects the emphasis strategy to develop Modesto into a Regional Cultural hub, quality events, a vibrant entertainment scene, appealing to us lucky to be here and enjoy it, but also to the outlying region, pull those visitors in, bring in some dollars not just to downtown, to Modesto.

Does filling a seat and holding the position constitute being a success?

Sure, in a game of musical chairs but not for our Mayor.

What's our mayors name? That was the question I had to look up on the web to find out because I honestly didn't know. His impact on Modesto has been so small that I don't even know his name.

Michael Galvan, 30, of Turlock was working as a high school resource officer not too long ago at Evelyn Hanshaw Middle School off of Crows Landing Road in an area riddled with drugs and violence. Galvan was working to monitor the campus and to be a positive influence on students who needed someone positive to look up to.

Tis the Season, and Modesto Bee, www.modbee.com been loaded with holiday cheer locally, on the Front Page Sunday, with a big foreclosure feature, how its way up, and likely to get worse, and if you lose the house, you're homeless too. Crime up in local news.

I am not trying to be all negative here, but I have to say something about an article in the Modesto Bee today. As you know, there are many, many cops downtown on the weekends. That is a fact that cannot be disputed.

I was downtown last night and I could not believe what I saw. You may recall me writing a while back that The MPD had met with local business owners and let them know that cops would not be walking downtown because they did not feel safe even though they are armed with batons and guns. They instead would be taking to the streets on horseback, motorcycle, mountain bike and whatever else that would keep them detached from downtown patrons.

The Modesto Bee is reporting today that Police Chief, Roy Wasden will meet with a city council subcommittee today and is expected to ask for a camera system to monitor activity downtown. Every move that we make will be filmed and sent via a wireless network directly to police cars.
