Law enforcement agencies throughout Stanislaus County will be joining together to conduct DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols in Oakdale and Stanislaus County this Memorial Day weekend as part of the Avoid the Twelve campaign. DUI saturation patrols will occur Friday, May 23, and Sunday, May 25, throughout Stanislaus County. DUI checkpoints will be conducted on Saturday, May 24, and Monday, May 26, in the City of Oakdale.
I want to buy a home but the home I want to buy doesn't exist in Modesto and the community I want to live in doesn't either
• I don't want to live in a shoddily built track home surrounded by SUV owning wannabe cowboys with screaming brats and soccer moms and the must of a car ride to get a carton of milk.
I do read other blogs, articles here, not just write them, and this one is one that affects the emphasis strategy to develop Modesto into a Regional Cultural hub, quality events, a vibrant entertainment scene, appealing to us lucky to be here and enjoy it, but also to the outlying region, pull those visitors in, bring in some dollars not just to downtown, to Modesto.
Summer is here now whether you can believe that or not and it is the time of year when more youth will be on the streets having fun. Unfortunately, it is also the time of year when police have to have to really get their games faces on to make sure that things don't get out of hand.
In the history of our site nothing has generated a more passionate response from our readers than the Hyphy incident that took place downtown last Labor Day weekend. Many people thought that the massive multi-agency police response was warranted while at the same time, many people thought that it was overkill.
Back in September this site caused all sorts of controversy when we reported on the hyphy incident downtown and let the community talk about how they felt about it. It was the first real test of how the community would react to an uncensored, unedited open forum and frankly, it surprised us to see how far and fast that Modesto ran with the concept. People wrote in and expressed their opinions on police power, racial issues, music, the way that the youth here are treated and how they felt about the cultural lines between Modesto and the East Bay blurring together rapidly.
The Bee is reporting today that Greg Adams and fellow co-workers of Dow Diversified construction caused quite a stir this morning when a call was made to police stating that there was someone running around outside their business wearing a mask and carrying a rifle.
I am not trying to be all negative here, but I have to say something about an article in the Modesto Bee today. As you know, there are many, many cops downtown on the weekends. That is a fact that cannot be disputed.
The Modesto Bee is reporting today that Police Chief, Roy Wasden will meet with a city council subcommittee today and is expected to ask for a camera system to monitor activity downtown. Every move that we make will be filmed and sent via a wireless network directly to police cars.
