Christmas Eve is here and if you have children, this to them is probably the most important day of the year. Can you imagine the questions going through their heads? They will be trying to figure out how Santa can make Nintendo's Wii system when no store in the free world seems to have one and they will be trying to figure out all day whether or not they were too naughty.

Take the family downtown today for some holiday fun. Enjoy a craft fair, Dodge Ridge snowboarding exhibit and farmers market. The events are taking place now outside of the McHenry Mansion on 15th Street between I and J Streets and will continue throughout the day. The celebration will also include our annual light parade where Santa Claus is rumored to be making a special appearance on a firetruck.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Stanislaus chapter, holding its annual Christmas Dinner, is doing something a little different. NAMI Stanislaus is having dinner catered, by Executive Chef and Owner of Minnie's Restaurant in Modesto, Peter Mah, as part of Pete's new association as consultant with Turning Point Community Programs.
TARA TINSLEY didn't make the poster in this version, but the Modesto Area Music Award Winner 2006 for acoustic music will open for David Benoit, in this tribute to the music of Vince Guaraldi, and Peanuts Creator Charles Schulz Christmas Specials.
