Modesto Certified Farmers Market will include art and crafters for sale area in the library parking lot, behind the regular organic vegetable and fruit stands on 16th Street, Saturday, August 23, 7 am to noon.

West Modesto Certified Farmers Market opened this summer, runs on Thursdays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at King Kennedy Center and Mellis Park through Sept 25.  Sept 4th there will be a free Blues concert with the Farmers Market with Shad Harris and the Groovenators, celebrating Recovery Month. 

Jennifer Williams of Crow Trading sent me an email that Elizabeth Ingebretsen will be showing her watercolors from her trip to Tunisia this month August 21 for the Downtown Modesto Third Thursday Art Walk. Crow Trading is next door to DEVA.

Michelle Uber from Modesto Certified Farmer's Market called today, will be doing a new ART at the Farmer's Market Saturday, August 23, 2008. Art displays will be set up in the Library Parking Lot, is for sale, and looking for artists and crafters for the event.

Karen Cox will be demonstrating printmaking in monoprints at Act of Kindness at 619 14th Street. David Bienkowski will be doing an oil painting demonstration at Anderson's Gallery and Frame Shop for Art Walk. I may be doing some sketching and watercolors over at Clayton's.

Women's Business Networking Group meetings (men are welcome too) are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at Deva Cafe, 1202 J St., Modesto.

Breakfast is at 9 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30.

I thought Chris Ricci wrote a great piece on some important considerations on downtown Modesto entertainment district and importance to the economy, what additional help from City, et al might further help this cause.
