I grew up listening to The Beach Boys and even though I lived in the valley I wanted to be a ‘little surfer girl.’ I always think of my uncle Jimmy when I hear The Beach Boys. He took my sister and me to the beach once when he was visiting, and after a drive of blaring “Surfin Safari�? and “California Girls�? we were ready to hit the water. I started swimming, I could feel the swell of water- then all of a sudden I could feel something swim up next to me, but before I could move or kick or scream
