For those who dont know, we have had a men's rugby team here in modesto for 32 years, The Stanislaus Rugby football Club and we have been proud to call Modesto our home. As a member of the Stanislaus Rugby Football Club, I have to admit that the battle with the city for a place for us to practice is exhausting. The battle bagan this past season when we tried to renew our reservations for any park with lights in the City of Modesto, and were denied because of the cleats we wear. The funny thing is, we wear the same cleats as soccer players do. So does that mean that MYSA or any of these local adult soccer leauge have to find new places to play and practice? The answer to that is no! I cant even begin to do that math, because I dont know how many soccer players practice and play in Modesto Parks, but I know its a whole lot more than 20 guys 2 days a week for 4 months. We are a small fraction of this total but yet we our sport has been excluded from being able to rent a practice field.
