Hyphy police action results in $1M claim against local agencies

In the history of our site nothing has generated a more passionate response from our readers than the Hyphy incident that took place downtown last Labor Day weekend. Many people thought that the massive multi-agency police response was warranted while at the same time, many people thought that it was overkill.

Back in September this site caused all sorts of controversy when we reported on the hyphy incident downtown and let the community talk about how they felt about it. It was the first real test of how the community would react to an uncensored, unedited open forum and frankly, it surprised us to see how far and fast that Modesto ran with the concept. People wrote in and expressed their opinions on police power, racial issues, music, the way that the youth here are treated and how they felt about the cultural lines between Modesto and the East Bay blurring together rapidly.

Hyphy in Motown: Sometimes if you don't want it... you end up getting it

So I took my daughter down to Boomers! on Sunday you know to do the usual, play a little mini golf and drive me some go-carts. We are sitting there in line for the go carts (by the way Modesto Go-Cart riders, worst parkers ever! Talk about future back injuries from rear end collisions...) and these kids drive by Ghost riding the whip! Totally classic, these young Motown youth getting into the Hyphy movement...
