Mental Health Board chair seeking younger, diverse applicants

This morning readers will find a letter to the Modest Bee editor by me, on current legislative and Governor's policy regarding State wide Mental Health policy. To get a handle on this, you may have to do some research if interested in Prop 63 and its Mental Health Services Act implementation, and AB 2034, which addresses mental health, and homeless and at risk folks.

Board of Sups, Public Hearing: Selling Stanislaus Behavioral Health Center to Tenet,

The County is holding a public hearing on selling Stanislaus Behavioral Health Center on Claus Rd, where you go if you get locked up for mental health reasons, inpatient, to Tenet, i.e. Doctor's Med Center parent company, somewhat controversial, maybe bee reporters would like to fill us in on it in advance, or post your comments on this, or better, mail to Board of Supervisors or show up for meeting.

Crows landing airfield development, forgot Ceres, Crows Landing Rd, Newman

Kind of interesting that the west side implications for the Crows Landing Air Field development failed to consider improvements, traffic to most direct link to Modesto, Ceres in all this, Crows Landing Road. Also to Highway 99 from the truck and intermodal rail facility.

Stanislaus County has a new mental health warm line, and Disability awareness month

This one is on mental health services, many of which have been curtailed by the County Board of Supervisors, with the closure of clinics in Ceres, Oakdale and Patterson.

I do advocacy and awareness training volunteer, and this subject is on a new service, long asked for by menttal health clients and families, The Warm Line, contract going to Turning POint, and includes hiring of clients with jobs, needed for their well being, as well as those that call in.

Like urban sprawl? Get used to it!

The group, Stamp Out Sprawl could not be very happy this morning. The board of supervisors voted 3-2 last night to not put growth restrictions in Stanislaus County on the ballot until at least 2008.
