Hello All,

You may have visited our site lately and wondered what in the world is going on with The Evening News. Well the answer is: A LOT! Much of this has been top secret but right now we are announcing a big change. Namely (pun intended) our name. The Evening News will be known as something else in a short while—and we want you to be a part of that change.

The Evening News won the MAMA award last year for best power pop band and ever since then the band has had a huge increase in it's fan base and they have received a good deal of critical praise. Tomorrow night they are playing a private show at Clix on Carpenter Road and we have your way to get in.

This is an all ages show and we expect a quick response to this contest. The faster that you contact us, the better. The winner will receive access to the show, a private reserved table for up to four people and an Evening News CD.

If you are a fan of this band, you should not miss this show. It will be a very intimate and relaxed setting and the guys have promised a few surprises.

After a long hiatus, live music is returning to 10th Street Plaza in Downtown Modesto for a 6 week stand. Every Friday from July 28 through September 1 people of every age will again be able to enjoy free concerts made possible by the presenting sponsor Clearwire Wireless Broadband Services. Other sponsors include The City of Modesto, Modesto’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department, and Off The Air, an independent promotion company. All shows will be from 8 PM to 10 PM and feature fantastic local and out of town acts ranging in styles from acoustic homegrown goodness to indie pop rock.

Great show tonight for all to enjoy

Hello kiddies and alt-rock fans, have we got a great show for you tonight! 5, that is correct, 5 bands all from the Central Valley! Tonight is an alternative/indie rock fantasy here at the historic Mainzer Theater. Our show tonight consists of the Modesto band THE EVENING NEWS. This band is a 6 piece of masterful alternative rock consisting of the front men Clark and Devin Beggs, guitar and bass accourdingly. The other members are Caleb Crenshaw on the drums, Matt Colp on guitar, Garrett Snelling on cello, and Tyler Snelling with sound production. These young men have a lot of talent and a ton of fans within the area. Anytime they are headlining a line up they can draw a crowd, but with a line up like tonight's, it looks to be an event.
Tonight's Merced draw is the ever-performing Merced native Lauren Wilson with her band ASPHODEL. With a great alt-rock sound put together with Lauren's phenomenal vocal performance they have really done a lot to become local names. Lauren have gained more and more momentum with her solo acoustic performances that has led to nothing but great local success with ASPHODEL.
There are three other acts on tonight's excellent bill including Project Fairway, Sleep Where I Fall, and Jupiter is Useless. These are all very talented up-and-coming rock bands. With names like these is brings all sorts of hope for Central Valley indie and alternative rock scene.
So come on out to the Mainzer Theater (659 w. Main St. in Merced) to check out what is sure to be a great show, not only a great show now, but is also warming up the area for the next two weeks worth of shows that are only short of amazing.
