Parking apparently a bargain

Modesto Bee notes another of those great San Francisco Consultants the City of Modesto uses to see what we're doing wrong or right here in Modesto. The latest, Walker Parking Consultants of SF, where we know parking lots are expensive, notes the City isn't making enough money on parking, which for me, living near downtown, is no big deal as I typically walk, but the report notes parking in Modesto a bargain, about 1 million less expensive than it could be. And we don't have those solared power parking meters, that would boost our parking spot to $1.25 an hour, perhaps to see Solar Powered People. Anyway, City Council's finance committee will review raising the rates and the report on Wednesday, before the Council Sept 5. Won't really apply to me, just wondered what you drivers out there think about this downtown parking thing, maybe even where to park when Gallo Center finally opens. jim

not sure that I care

I have to hear enough about how terrible it is to park downtown as it is. Maybe a consideration of what the parking situation already is vers a way to generate more revenue.

The thing about parking downtown is that there's mostly only 1 hour parking spots! It sucks to have to squeeze in any vist I have too an hour. It would be cool if all the spots on Jst had meters but does Modesto really need to charge for everyspot.

It would be one more decision by our city Gov... "STAY OUT OF DOWNTOWN!"

sigh.. why do I bother

sigh, know the feeling

I've lived on edge of downtown for 25 years now, and when I have taken the car, sucks to find that parking place that is on the street. Your all caps quote" Stay out of Downtown," too often by city gov, i guess is why I'm still interested, as like you, a place I like to visit.
