New Children's Book About Teasing and Bullying

As a parent or educator, perhaps you already know how other kids tend to tease others based on their looks and how kids can bully those who seem to have more noticeable flaws. It can be hard to make kids understand that it’s OK to be themselves, to be short, overweight, big nosed, or in my case big eared!

I wrote an easy reader book for Kid's ages 6 to 8 year olds to make them feel good about themselves no matter how they look on the outside.

Most of us have been teased sometime in our lives, especially as kids and that can be hard for us once we become adults. I have worked as a bilingual Instructional aide at elementary schools when I was originally planning on becoming a Bilingual third grade teacher. I got to see at first glance how cruel kids can still be and it made me think back when I was a kid, who got picked on and bullied simply for having big ears! I know how hard it can be to want to make friends with other kids, feel accepted as we are and to feel like an outsider, lonely, and insecure for looking different. Studies show, that 75% of kids ages 6 to 11 year old get bullied and teased while at school and thats sad to imagine..

I myself was one of them and I got picked on so many times, bullied and mocked that it made me feel self-cautious about my ears, who I was and even had to let my hair grow long to cover my ears. I grew out of it until I was a senior in high school and when I went to college I finally accepted who I was with flaws and all.

So based on my experience growing up and working along side with kids of all ages, I have come to see that kids of today need a book that can help them see and feel that no matter how they look on the outside, they are all beautiful on the inside. I want this book to be read by parents, educators that need to motivate and encourage kids to simply love themselves no matter who they are, or how they look. I was once picked on and felt out of place, a loner, and thought something was wrong with me but now that I am an adult, I see I was not that much different than anyone else, I simply was blessed with a special look that would open doors for me.
