Modesto Fixed Gear

I just wanted to share an awesome site for you fixed gear bicycle riders in Modesto. I recently joined because i picked up a new bike (single speed) and enjoy riding it very much. The first day, I rode around the east MJC/downtown area and thats when i realize Modesto is really an awesome place. I notice Fresno Famous is big on the whole "bike around the city thing" and we too should get with the program and stop driving our suv's.

Squid/Biking Modesto

Squid,

Thanks for the link to that site. I don't have a fixed gear bicycle, but I recently purchased a new mountain/road bike and I too have been really enjoying riding around Modesto. With the exception of the wind, this is a pretty biker-friendly city. I really like the built-in bike racks outside of downtown businesses.

Please keep us informed of any biking events or other biking related news that you may hear about.

Ride safe,

There is a Stanislaus County

There is a Stanislaus County Bicycle Club, however practically all the members have road/racing bikes and are very hardcore about distance and speed. They also tend to ride very early in the mornings on Saturdays and Sundays.

World of Wheels has a regular ride ever Sunday afternoon. I haven't done that one yet but have heard it's a little more leisurely and a fun way to meet other bicycle enthusiasts.

Currently, my bike is in the shop (hoping to get it back next week) but I can often be found riding the Dry Creek Trail. I occasionally drag my bike onto BART and will ride around San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge. That's always a fun bicycle/photo expedition.
