Wedding Day Blues
Wedding Day Blues
Lat Sunday the Modesto Bee put out a piece on Wedding Planning but a key thought was missed.

After reading the story, I couldn’t believe that a critical piece was missed in such a well written piece. After witch, I just had to sit down and write to BEN van der MEER in respect to “to commit on this story, please email mail or call" so I did hoping that he would consider my thoughts and help prevent a disappointing day for your wedding.
Below is the letter I wrote to him, I hope its helpful to our wedding couples in planning your special day.
An Important thought was missed in your Wedding Planning Piece
Being a DJ/Entertainer for over 18 years in Modesto, I have too often seen folks try to save a few bucks on their entertainment. Many a Saturday I get countless calls from brides in a panic because their DJ didn’t show up and they have over 200 guest there with no music or entertainment. Will it make or break your Wedding. For sure! In my opinion, The most important thing you can do for your special day is consider good environment for your Wedding. Obviously if its May, June, July or August, you may want to stay clear from having an outdoor Wedding. The saddest thing I can remember from a Wedding in May was a down poor on of showers on this nice couples outdoor Wedding. The linen was soaked, the china got dirty, and the glasses on the table filled with rain drops. Sadly the guest ran for cover and headed for their cars. Me, I cried a tear for my Wedding couple and hung out till it was no longer safe for me or my equipment. The Heat! OK, so its May 18th and you think your far from those scorching days of August. Think again., our weather is very much unpredictable. A 100 plus thermometer will surly be making you feel miserable in that black Tuxedo or that long beautiful white wedding dress.
We live in California friends, I don’t care how much your budget calls for, plan on being comfortable for your very special day. If your hot and miserable, you can bet your guests will be no matter who you have Entertaining your day, even if you had the Rolling Stones playing at your Wedding. Heat is hot and you will not even want to bother with wanting to move around.
Your Entertainment, spare no expenses. Hire a licensed and insured Entertainer/DJ/band. Your MC/Entertainer can play a big part in in making your day a memorable one. For example, after a year has gone by, go up to one of your guests and ask them what they remember most about your Wedding. The first thought for most will likely will be their comfort zone, how nice it was. The second will be how much fun they had provided by the Entertainer you hired. Chances are they will not remember what you served them for dinner and they won’t remember the name of your photographer. But they will remember dancing till they were out of breath and the nice environment where your Wedding was held. Rule of thumb here, Location, Location, Location! Choose wisely. Entertainment, Reference, Experience, and a good since on how to being able to entertain your event with a smile.

I sent this letter over this evening to the Modesto Bee
Smiles my wife tells me that I have a gift for being able to see beyond the glass through the window. Na, I just tell her that I am always listening to what people don’t want to hear as well as seeing what we don’t want to recognize.
I think its also called listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit that speaks to us.
Anywho.. Sadly the phone has been ringing off the hook here since Wednesday. Seems that brides have been scrambling to find a DJ because their good deal DJ canceled on them do to the crazy weather that we have been experiencing. Sadly, these poor folks are not only having to worry about the rain and or wind on their special day, but they also now have to find a responsible DJ service that will come through for their Wedding. The biggest reason why these side DJ’s are pulling out. They don’t want to risk getting their equipment dirty or wet. Right now we are in the peek of the season and all entertainers can choose what venue might work best for them way in advance to accommodate their wedding couple. Well, IM off to take a nap now. I have my first of 4 Sober grad nights going on tonight at Boomers. It’s a great thrill for me to be part of such a positive thing here and these kids will remember this night for the rest of their lives..
Have a “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" weekend friends.. Ya I like Mary Poppins and please help me spread the word on this..

PS Please join me in saying a little prayer for these brides that are scrabbling this weekend. Nobody deserves to be miserable on their wedding day..
