Last night I ventured out to the Fat Cat with a friend to see the hit band, The Last Goodnight. The crowd was terribly small, but the bands that played really seemed to have a great time regardless of that fact. I love getting out to events like this because I get the opportunity to see a group that is flying up the charts as well as a handful of local bands. Last night one band in particular really brought down the house!
Local rockers, The Kinzie Affair made it clear to everyone last night that they are dedicated to their music and the art of performing it with a passion that I have not seen in a long while. When I see a band live, I expect them to really give it their all. I want to see them pour energy into a set and really work the crowd. The young guys in The Kinzie Affair did just that.
There was a point in one song where a guitarist put his guitar down to join the drummer to give his drum kit a beating that I was not sure that it would survive. That moment was the key to their performance. As the drum kit kicked out a furious beat the other members of the band made sure to complete the sound with killer vocals and awesome guitar work.
The Last Goodnight was good last night and so were La Roca and Heroes Choice, but The Kinzie Affair who opened the show could have easily been the headlining band. I can't wait to see these guys again soon.
