Modesto Blues Festival United Community Walk volunteer meeting, April 3

The United Community Walk, is the first event to open the Modesto Blues Festival, and a volunteer and organizing meeting is set for anyone interested in participating as a volunteer with the community walk, art venue, nonprofit participation, and volunteer spots with the blues festival please attend.

Meeting is 6 p.m., at the Alano Club, 1660 Herndon Road, Ceres, CA.

The United Community Walk this year will be using the Virginia Corridor walking and biking trail park, from the Stoddard and Virginia Avenue point, to the Lions Club children's location at Morris Avenue, up to Rotary Junction at Roseburg Square, and will start and stop from the Mancini Bowl area at Graceada Park, where the music will be played at 11am to conclusion. Modesto Blues Festival 2008, and the United Community Walk, June 14, 2008, rain or shine, an all ages, FREE event held at Graceada Park.

Last years host nonprofit and service organizations were NAMI Stanislaus and National Night out, but also included general citizens, groups from our sponsors, recovery and mental health programs, and included information tables, provided free, in and amongst our sponsor tables and paying vendors. We wish to build on this, to include more nonprofit and service organizations in our community, county wide, not just Modesto, including our car clubs, many of whom associated with service groups like the Kiwanis, host of the Graffiti show at MJC the weekend prior to our festival, and like the Modesto Blues Festival, featured events, and community volunteers in the Graffiti Summer Events schedule.

The Art venue this year, is expanding, and we are using the Farmer's Market special art show event for local artists as a starting point for our theme, support local art, and walk or ride your bike to the blues festival, more parking for the classic show cars, we'll have bicycle parking area, and should be a nice day to catch some rays, get some exercise, support a community cause of your own, enjoy art and music, and out among friends. We will have a booth at the Farmer's Market Art Event, with direction to the Blues Festival, information on other events, our art for sale, along with Commonality, other artists who've been out on display for the Third Thursday Art Walk.

So join us if you will, or ask JB to put you on our email list for updates, at johnb@jbpresents.com or if you have questions, or can't make it but want to get involved, call John Black at 209-985-0467 for information. While we do have vendor and sponsor spots open, and use these same contact points for that, this meeting concerns our volunteer and nonprofit aspect of the JB Presents founded, and produced, Modesto Blues Festival and United Community Walk, a free, all ages event, vendor and sponsor funded event.
