A Flock of Seagulls in Modesto?

And no, I'm not talking about that random lost flock that cruises past the mall every once in a whle dropping bombs and eating old food! This event should be a real winner!

I just got my hair cut short, but I may challenge Efren for best 80's look! Think about it! Efren and Mojo in a battle over 80's supremacy! You down old man? Huh? Huh? Answer me! Like Mr. T would say back then: "Only a real fool would take on the marvelous Mojo!" :-)

its a thursday, fourth thursday at the State Theatre

just a note to Efren, this one is on Fourth Thursday, week after the Art Walk, why I post these posters, as we have Rachel Renae and Dirty Monday at the State for Art Walk, (Crissy Harris and guitarist Scott by last night to post more of these for us, Dirty Monday played Fat Cat last week, involved with Copper Rhino's alternative Rock Thursdays) but should be a good show, its at the State Theatre. I got traded a stack of the B 93 and Copper Rhino alternative rock posters on our usual cooperative poster posting runs.

So I guess that’s between Wednesday & Friday

So I guess that’s between Wednesday & Friday.. Smiles.. Thanks Jim.. Just got back from vacation and I’m still trying to get caught up with my days. Crazy, I miss one Mass on a Sunday.. And my whole week is just thrown. Still, I generally go by fitness days. Monday, Wednesday’s & Fridays Lifting & Spin Days.. Tuesday’s, Thursday’s & Sundays Cardio Days.. This lands on a cardio day so it’s doable.. I think, I need to check on one of the tree laptops in front of me to see what‘s going on. Ya Jim, it can be a bit crazy here in my office. Blog here, Post Here, Reply There.. It’s like something out of the Matrix at times.. Good Night Mr. Anderson

put a smile at the box office

I believe you are correct, that day is Thor's Day, Mr T, between wednesday and TGIF. They're moving on that Mallard's project to replace them at McHenry Village, be sad to see that Standing Seam Green roof go my crew put on that building with the new Friday's there, but getting back to the 80s Efen, suspect that's when Mallard's was built,.....

put a smile on the face of the box office staff at the State, and buy some tickets to this and any other State theatre show.

I'm going to Film Society on Sunday, Treasure of Sierra Madre, with Walter Huston and Bogart, at 3 p.m., Only $8 for a friend, get mine at member rate, likely go by Queen Bean after for open mic like last month......

But State Theatre box office open one hour before any event, and noon to 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday, including Thursdays, say Hi to Beverly, John or Sue, or other box office staff, and get a seat....

or just come by Third THursday, hear some music, see the Art in the restored Art Deco Theatre landmark Next Thursday, get a jump on the 80s by a week.

online, go to http://www.thestate.org where box office is on the net.

By the way, Modesto Blues Festival United Community walk meeting is April 3, at the Alano club at 6 pm, helps network the nonprofits and our community, use the new Virginia Corridor Park to get ready for great Blues Fest FREE in the Mancini Bowl at Graceada Park, June 14. If you want to volunteer, find out more about it, see
http://www.myspace.com/modesto_blues_fest or http://www.jbpresents.com, or email JB at johnb@jbpresents.com to find out more about it, how you can help this effort out. Last year, co-hosts were NAMI Stanislaus and National Night Out, some other of our sponsors, and went by Queen Bean, down to A and W, and back, while Efren out doing Relay for Life.

This year Relay for Life scheduled the week after, so get in practice walking with us, at the Flag Day Grafitti Summer Event, the Free Blues Festival and United Community Walk. Ok, Efren, put your pitch in for Relay for Life..... best to Mojo for some ideas, hoping he feeling better.

Also, look for Commonality work with the ARt Walk this month, Christine worked Queen Bean last month, so this month's art walk should be fun.

Thanks Jim! In regards to the 80’s Show on Thursday, I’m sure it will be a packed house! I spoke with many of my friends & they are very excited about the show. They just haven’t gotten around to getting their tickets yet..

On February 5th I attended The Modesto’s American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Modesto Kick Off Party. What caught my attention most is the (CPS-3) program. Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3)
The American Cancer Society’s Department of Epidemiology and Surveillance Research is inviting men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 years who have no personal history of cancer to join a historic research study. The ultimate goal is to enroll 500,000 adults from various racial/ethnic backgrounds from across the U.S. The purpose of CPS-3 is to better understand the lifestyle, behavioral, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer and to ultimately eliminate cancer as a major health problem for this and future generations.
Study enrollment will take place at Relay For Life events in your community.

ACS Relay for Life in other County communities

While I don't have the race for the cure details, like last year there will be Relay for Life events in other cities in Stanislaus County, including Patterson where my cousin lived, and died of this disease, Turlock, so look for these events, usually starting up in May and onto June. This month, easy to remember as on my mom's 81st birthday here in Modesto.

and remember our multi nonprofit, good causes, just get out and walk, its good for you, United Community Walk, June 14, Modesto Blues festival opening event. Wear a hat, a tee shirt, note your group, do it your way, and walk away some blues, then kick back and listen to it up on stage, bring a flag, its Flag Day, one week from this project Efren and friends working on.

Seagulls

OK Efren...

I saw them swarming over Office Depot this morning! I just wanted to buy a new pen, but they were out for blood (or loose potato chips).

As far as I could tell from a distance, they were also equipped with oceanic-level bombing gear and ferocious looking landing mechanisms. I hope that our town is still standing when they go away! Those white Ray Bans may be very smart. They are known to be eye peckers! I've been keeping my trusty guard Chihuahua indoors!

State Theatre - 80s, also films

Just a note, this 80s concert the only poster for me to post this month, State in the heart of film schedule.

Rear Window is next month's Film Society movie, in case open mic wondered what jim and friend doing back at Queen Bean back patio Sunday, smoking cigarettes and hoping I was well enough to watch the show of course, as had seen Bogart in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and

last time we were at open mic, I was still unaffected by the flu, there to see Slam on Rye, Jeff Bonilla, Not an Airplane, other friends at the mic........

Anyway, buy tickets to eighties shows, yahoo says its the new secret vice, to enjoy 80s musice, with or without raybans.

speakeasy, my 80s are

I do stop there without the flu on Mondays after blue monday, and made some wednesdays with Johnny and Kelly, bonilla, and others, but damn, ..... possible something to do the other Thursdays of the month than..... well, after Art Walk this week, a good idea to sample the 80s prior to next week, after art walk party at Speak Easy.

Have to admit Dirty Monday poster crew for art walk this week, mentioned Copper Rhino has alternative rock night again, wonder if hair big enough to compete.....

I do have a painting this month from 1993, so may have been listening to some 1980s Tom Petty at the time.

happy easter at the rendezvous in Turlock

After loading up the easels from the Thursday Art Walk, on Good Friday and return to Mistlin Gallery, spending the rest of the weekend in Turlock, at the Back Country Horsemen of California Rendezvous with JB in the JB Presents trailer, Western Art Show, back country gentle use classes, horses, Dutch Oven cooking demonstrations, cook off, cowboy church and wifi cafe with Rachel Renae and Dave Hanley, headliner David Langley, at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds.

80s had country music too as I recall, Pat Benatar in addition to Cyndi Lauper

Anytime a band or artist is

Anytime a band or artist is still performing since the 80's or earlier is a show worth seeing. Billy Joels last concert at shea stadium was amazing, nothing like have a local artist with so many great hits especially at the bars when their music comes on everyone loves it. I just got some steve coogan tickets not overly excited but still going.
