ruben, see the map on our event, for the Walk

I added our United Community Walk course map we edited from what we got on mapquest, to show the route from Mancini Bowl, up to Rotary junction and back starting at 10 am to open the Modesto Blues Festival. Thanks for the tout, as it is genuinely appreciated.

The zip code and address, as provided by City of Modesto is correct for Graceada Park, and map function on modestofamous.com has had this set up as though 401 Needham is somehow on Alice Avenue, close, but not correct. After the last comment on this, I hadn't checked my own frustration entering, and this evening used 95350, the other zip code in the neighborhood at my house, 5 blocks down Alice to Olive, and it puts it in Briggsmore, so was not the wrong entry for this City owned spot, that is incorrect in the map function. As I mentioned, good as they are, not all map functions correctly get them. I added our map as specific to the united community walk, not because we don't like using the automatic map functions here on modestofamous.com

Am glad we get to post worthy causes, breaking news, great events, feature good guys like you Mojo, so thanks.

No worries Bro

That’s cool Jim, IM thinking my wife will have a wonderful turn out. I personally can’t make it, I have to work.. Although; I sent the 411 over to my friends at The Shadow Chase Running Club, Memorial Hospital and all the hard working folks on the community that have made our Modesto Relay for Life 08 happen. Ya know Jim, it has to be a labor of love from these special folks on our Community. Last night, our meeting went over 2 hours. Sadly, the biggest hurtles we encountered from this years Relay was that contributions and full sponsorships. Other disappointments where from our local media out there who never ever bothered to return our calls. I can understand the whole contribution thing, we are just in a tough economy right now.. But, as far as our local media.. It would have been nice to receive a call back from him..
In fact, A “No‿ would have been ok with us and a YES would have even been better. But simply to ignore our calls and emails. That’s just sad, No worries bro, I just hope and pray that cancer ignores the persons family that was in charge of getting back to us on this.
I just can’t figure it out Jim, It seems that most of us out there always go looking for the cause, just as soon as the cause strikes us or our families. My friends. Please don’t wait for tragedy to try to make a difference. Get out and make a difference in someone’s life TODAY! The life that you fight for today maybe yours and or someone you love later on down the road..
Gods Love Modesto
Remember, Fight Back, Celebrate
Relay For Life 08

show your support with NAMI Stanislaus Tees

NAMI Stanislaus still has some tee shirts for walkers at the United Community Walk, available for suggested $10 donation, proceeds to the NAMI Stanislaus Peer to Peer and general mental health education and advocacy activities by the National Alliance on Mental Illness local affiliate, that serves families and people affected by these issues here in Stanislaus County. Teams and individual friends walking the United Community Walk will be meeting at Mancini Bowl around 10 am, and the NAMI Stanislaus team will have balloons, flags to mark where their table is with tee shirts and more information on their organization. Support Recovery and HOpe, come on out and walk with
us, maybe wear it to a Relay for Life event or similar worthy cause.

Blues Fest has oil painting art demo using Robben Ford portrait

Peer to Peer Recovery Art Project starts its day at Farmer's Market first ever Art Sale 7 am to Noon, library parking area, but we're also hosts of the Art Venue with Modesto Blues Festival. I've got first of the paintings for the stage done, and we may have Neal Who Paints on Stage doing the bands as we go, but....

Local Artist Penny Meyer, draws at Blue Monday jams like I do, is doing an oil painting art demo in the park, of a portrait of Blues player Robben Ford most likely, during the festival. We will also have some local artists on display on the grids in the vendor and nonprofit art spot area, so come check local art and blues music, food, drink and community walk in free event on Saturday. Arts and crafts vendors also a part of the shopping options to spend the cash you don't have to pay to get in.
