Jiggy steps up and scores!

Rap may not be the favorite music of everyone, but you have to give local talent, Jiggy a pat on the back for proving that he is very talented this past Friday night.

The show, which was billed as "Jiggy Jam 2008" featured pop sensations Jupiter Rising and NLT. Both groups currently have top 40 hits and are riding high on MTV airwaves. I thought like many others that I spoke to about the show that Jiggy may not have the crowd reaction that the bigger names had, but I was wrong. I was very wrong.

Screaming teens seemed to love what Jiggy had to offer and he held his own with well-timed dance moves and a keen sense of self assurance. It is interesting watching a local act take charge of a crowd. I could definitely see Jiggy taking his act to the next level.

I am not a huge fan of rap, but I am a big fan of local artists trying hard to find their way in a world thick with competition.

Unfortunately, I had some technical difficulties and did not catch a photo of Jiggy, but if you are a fan of Timbaland-produced NLT or Jupiter Rising, you can check out some pics that I snapped by clicking here: http://flickr.com/photos/eachdaycounts/tags/top40/.

I'll be checking in later this week also. Don't forget to make plans to attend Off the Air's show on Friday at Deva on J Street. Merced-based El Olio Wolof will be there and they should not be missed. More info. on that show can be found here: http://www.modestofamous.com/node/3600.

Have fun out there Modesto! Keep your umbrellas handy!
