Feel like Sushi tonight?

A few nights ago a friend and I went all over town seeking Sushi, but all of our usual haunts were closed for one reason or another. We ended up on McHenry Avenue at a new place called Osaka Sushi. I was a little nervous because the place was new and I did not want to eat any fish that had been sitting around, but we were very pleasantly surprised.

We ordered a variety of rolls to share and everything was amazing. It was so good in fact that I went back just last night. The building that Osaka occupies is known for short-term occupants that seem to close up shop before the public really gets a chance to try their food. I really hope that Osaka sticks around for a long while!

Head on over to 2402 McHenry Avenue to try some delicious fresh Sushi the next time the craving strikes you. The Restaurant is clean and the food is top notch and priced right!

very authentic...sushi chef

We went by there the other night too. Now this is one of those "black hole" locations. You know, the ones that no business can survive. Javi's on Standiford/Tully used to be one. There were 4 or 5 businesses that were in and out of that place within 6 months. But they've outlasted the curse. This location has been similar in that way. But I think these guys have a great chance to make it. The sushi was excellent, and the service was great. Be careful though. We sat at the sushi bar, and had a special dietary request that we gave to the sushi chef. Didn't happen. I think because he speaks mostly Japanese. Of course they fixed it for us and were very nice about it. But that's how authentic this place is people.
They've also got teriyaki chicken and the likes for those of you that are afraid of the raw stuff! See ya' there.

Had the chance to eat there

Had the chance to eat there tonight. I believe the last business to close was an fijian restaurant. Anyhow, i order the sashimi plate, $15.99. The price is average. I had to wait 30-40 minutes for the plate and it turned out okay, but a little on the hard side. I love my tuna soft and having it melt in my mouth. I believe the sushi chef is Chinese as he exchanged words to one of the waitresses.

Umm you should give them a try.

landmarks appreciated

Hey, I don't know from the address, but I recognize the old Fiji place that was mentioned. Is this where the old Rax Roast Beef used to be? Kind of rounded front with a lot of windows on the east side of McHenry? I don't eat sushi but there are things on the menu for me to try. Sounds good.
