Modesto Cultural Commission meetings

Fourth Monday of the Month, December not meeting, but will in January, 4 p.m. at McHenry Museum, the Citizens advisory committee to Modesto City Council, or Modesto Cultural Commission meets, and I was invited by chair Brian Haddix at the Art Walk event at State Theatre, among others extended invitations, and when at the November meeting, the only public audience member in attendance, and these are open to the public.

Among items on the agenda, poet laureate policy, annual and strategic plan for the arts and cultural activities of the City, budget cutbacks, grant funding program, the new web site work in progress, public art projects, and in the general conversation prior to meeting, got to know a little more of what the commission does, including picked up info of a planned nonprofit training from Stanislaus County Arts Council director Grace Lieberman, problems of budget, invitation to spread the word, happy to have public input, so getting around at last to posting this blog, to post that message.

A direct way to submit ideas, and I was asked for comments on the agenda items, my observations or general questions, ideas I might have for the arts and cultural interests after introduction to what this committee does, the projects it works on. Anyway, fourth monday of the month, look for the agenda posted on the McHenry Museum door, usually the McHenry Museum not open to the public on Mondays, but is for this meeting, and it was all decked out with new displays, if nothing else a reason to visit our local museum.
