Its NO Secret Where have you been Mod Bee

OK friends, so the Stanislaus County YMCA is in some Financial Trouble. Here is a News Flash! Its always been in Financial Trouble! Let me just say this, The YMCA helped me reach my goals in weight loss and become a certified fitness instructor/trainer. My Story Below!

In 2004 I weighed in at 300lbs, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and if I continued with my eating habits, on my way to type 2 diabetes. In 2005 I decided to make a life long commitment & get healthy through exercise, nutrition & my faith. I joined a gym weighing in at 230 & As of August 1, 2005 I weighed in at 156lbs.
I started spending 3 hours a week at the YMCA and worked my way up. I now spend 16 to 24 hours a week at the gym doing cardio and lifting weights, along with being a Pilate’s instructor. I am certified fitness instructor and feel very good about myself. I think it’s important for people to know that their is a light at the end of the tunnel with weight loss. With so many diets and extreme surgeries happening today I think people forgot that exercise and eating right just works, I am proof of that. Recently I ran a 5k run in Ripon and beat my time by nearly a minute. My time was 20:29. This is a big deal, for I was a smoker since the age of 16 and quit cold turkey in March 2005.

Ladies & Gentleman, IM sure we have all spent some time at our Stanislaus County YMCA either working out, learning to swim, physical therapy or just to shoot some hoops! The time is now folks! Our YMCA needs us to help them out. Let’s not let this slip away from our community. Volunteer! Make a donation! Support our YMCA! To Mr. Steve Smith, former CEO at the YMCA, my wife and I were members of the YMCA before and after you came to the YMCA. All I can say is the YMCA was better than it ever was since you came there and you will be missed. Looking forward to the YMCA Christmas Tree Run in December. Thank you for all you have done. You & your Staff!

The Y

Efren,

I think it is sad that the YMCA is in such trouble. People anymore seem to be constantly running from job to job to pay the high cost of fuel, housing and everything else. I fall into that "busy trap" myself even though I really have plenty of time. Since I got sick, I have lost a good deal of weight but I would also love to gain some of my strength back. I have been doing some soul searching lately and I have decided to try to work my schedule better to become more disciplined and really try to challenge myself more. We should get together soon. I'd bet that you have some great advice for me.

Anyway, I hope that more people take to the courts and rooms at the YMCA and I hope that more families realize that it is a great place to spend some quality time. Would you happen to know the membership cost for a single guy?

Let me know if the YMCA has any events coming up. I have ways other than this site to help spread the word for good causes like this.

Take care,

Thank you sooo much Mojo

For sure Brother, I will get some information on that as soon as possible & post it up. Ya’ its crazy, the price of gas is still very high, energy to heat our homes keeps going up & just to keep food on the table for most of us is getting tougher & tougher. Seems that their is hard times for all of us one way or another out there. Lets just all try to stay together & help one another here at Modesto Famous & all around. Your doing a great job Mojo & I always look forward to see who your helping next or what topic your bringing awareness to. My advice for gaining weight. Load up on carbs brother! Pasta’s, Rice, Mexican Food.. Yummy! Bro, if it taste good, chances are it’s a carb. LOL They are so Good! Also just as important! Getting closer to ones faith is always a plus. For me, Life without faith is just living. IM off to my Pilate’s class right now but will post some good information later tonight on the YMCA as well as ideas on what we can do to make our world better for our Planet & our children’s Planet. Global Warming! Its Way Serious. Lets come together people!
God Love & mine too
