Does anyone out there Twitter?

If you are reading this you most likely have a pretty fair knowledge of the web and what is hot on it at the moment. We all know about www.MySpace.com and www.Flickr.com, but there is another service out there that is really getting people together and allowing people to take a more personal look into the lives of others.

Does anyone out there use Twitter? According to www.twitter.com, Twitter is "A global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing? Answer on your phone, IM, or right here on the web!"

I have used the service for a while but I must admit that I have not really kept up with it enough. The point of the the service is for you to post updates and let people know what you may be doing at any given moment. It may sound strange at first, but I can see it becoming addicting.

Right now I could use my cell phone and send a text to Twitter saying something like, "Working now at Extreme Pizza. You have to love wi-fi!"

It is that simple. To get started simply go to: http://www.twitter.com and get a free account. I hope to get quite a few of our site members interested in Twitter as sort of an experiment. To read the updates that I write for Modesto Famous simply visit www.twitter.com/modestofamous.

If you have any questions about Twitter please email me at modestofamous@gmail.com. The more people that get involved, the more fun this will be!

Have a great week in Modesto this week. Triple digit temperatures will be back by Wednesday so stay cool out there. Don't forget to check out our events calendar for things to do in town this week. Don't miss a night of Blues and Jazz tonight at Clayton's on H Street!

to twitter or not to twitter

I would definitely say to twitter. It takes social networking to another level. it’s not only for keeping in touch with friends. There are a lot of business using twitter as a marketing tactic. Dell, Zappos, PMZ, The Modesto Bee just to list a few have jumped on the social networking bandwagon and use twitter to share, collaborate & discuses ideas and topics.
