Riverbank Art and Chalk Walk, http://www.rioarts.org [1] Rio Arts is a multi performing arts organization. The occasion of the First Annual Art And Sidewalk Chalk Walk event, 85th Anniversary of the City of Riverbank.

Held on Santa Fe Avenue, between Third and Fourth or Second Street, and I'm not sure, as I"m originally from Riverside, currently living in Modesto, and had entered teh show as a participating artist.

view looking West on Santa Fe, the weather a bit windy at times, especially during set up.  Hours for the walk, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

I was short of easels, and forgot the S hooks I used Saturday in Modesto, which Keena was able to use on the provided grids from Rio Arts, that I used the camp chair as an easel in my display.  Art of Jim Christiansen

my partner in promotions, John Black of JB Presents took me out in his van, and had to have him do something, so had him pose for my cartoon drawing demonstration.

Artist Keena Wells, looking back East of the venue area, same direction and turn left we knew Rachel Renae was singing at a church youth group fundraiser, where JB sampled the corn on the cob bbq.

View toward other vendors, featuring keena wells work.  In Riverbank, some patrons wore artful tee shirts.

So much for the ModestoArtX members, from Modesto, (Keena originally from New York) the rest of the view, of the other Participating artists.

Horses are the theme of the next artist, who does western art shows out in Oakdale, and happens to be someone we are recruiting to show at the BCHC Rendezvous.

I spilled my wine, grabbing camera to photograph the sign, fortunately in easy clean up area, such the Shiraz did not stain the carpet.  I thought I owed friendly hospitality local business owner shot of the sign in the blog, for having taken on a number of my flyers on my paintings to pass on to other interested buyers.

The artist above quite colorful.  Now, at the other end, where Keena and I were, was a ceramicist with masks, and I'm sorry didn't get a shot of them, as I did these.

[39]

The kid's art displays I thought, very well done.

The building I was situated in front of is the Central Valley Foster Care, Inc nonprofit, and I said I'd promote it's cause a bit, took some of the flyers to post, and introduced the director to John Black, who is also the Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Family Advocate, so related to JB's day job, and appropriate for the day.  So I put in the blown up version so you can see it is in the drawing, and that's what I was demonstrating, cartoon caricature drawing by a sometime editorial cartoonist.  We got to take a tour of the Queen Bean, with owner Debra Martinez, but you note no pics on that, you'll see soon enough, but we also talked to Debra about art shows, and so featured the ART in this photo blog, as I sort of criticized coverage by the Modesto Bee, for so much on the new Gallo Arts Center, which is fine, but lacked something of color photo spread of the artists, so this just works into my editorial stance on this.

I have to put promotional note, for my partner here, JB of http://www.jbpresents.com [41] organizer of the Modesto Blues Festival and other special events,  though I had the Tommy Castro tickets, he didn't, from my work with Sue Richardson at the State Theatre Third Thursday Art Walk event, and some of the folks from Riverbank attended, and we had the notice on the table on this event, and of course blogged it various places. http://www.myspace.com/modesto_blues_fest [42] which itself had an art display in Graceada Park.  JB Presents recently added its own myspace profile, though no blog there yet, as I don't write it.  I do at other blog sites.

http://www.modestofamous.com [43] being one of them, and things happen as Motown Mojo will tell you, as I missed Ruben if he made it out here, but was nice article lead he made to promote this, but similar to my tickets got screwed up Saturday in Modesto that I won, where I blog.  No problem out here, totally FREE to attend event.   Mojo not the only one scheduled to miss this, our friend Edd Godsey had to bail due to illness as well, and we wish him well, as he wanted to be here, one of the tatoo artist style compatible and reminded Keena and I of Edd's work.

We particularly thank Jan Stanley and BHRS for getting our application in from this one, as we had to fax in, as had a time limit, so borrowed one from Patient's rights over by JB's office on Scenic, and Jan Stanley, with the Riverbank Beautification project, and downtown out in Riverbank getting to look pretty good.  Was really nice to meet her, and other friends from Rio Arts.

Now, this was brought to you by, participant in this event, so suspect some sort of blogging gonzo participant journalism by James D. Christiansen, a former managing editor and graphics editor, editorial cartoonist.

http://360.yahoo.com/mercenary_graphics [45] is my work blog, over old history, or how I do something, or current projects.   mercenary_graphics@yahoo.com [46] is my work as an artist email.

We've started a new art group out here, due to the success of the Peer to Peer Art collaborative crew from Modesto Blues Festival, to State Theatre, to Modesto Art and Wine Festival to Riverbank Art and Chalk Walk, and we hope soon up at Queen Bean, and due to comments by friend Robert Nelson and his bobshootenpics blog on http://www.modestofamous.com [47]  and its on myspace and yahoo.com

http://www.myspace.com/modestoartx [48] where this blog was put together

http://360.yahoo.com/modestoartx [49]  on yahoo,

myspace discussion group is http://groups.myspace.com/modestoartx [50] and we already have 21 members, and is only a week old.  Please check that out.

Thanks to modestoartx friend and member Rachel Renae for coming by to visit, along with the Vice Mayor of Riverbank.  This was a fun event, glad to be there for it.  Worth being a bit late to a sold out blues show with Tommy Castro at the State theatre.  Remember, Third Thursday in Modesto is the next art walk event.
