i like the edge to psychedelicpanda's portfolio in famous's flickr group

some great photos, art type, others, in the flickr gallery group for modesto famous, and I"ve been looking to add folks to show at the State Theatre spot for Third Thursday Art Walk, and just let psychedelicpanda know one I wish would get hold of me for it, like divagrrl, adm, etc, as we're going to be doing that spot awhile.

http://www.myspace.com/modestoartx is the spot for that on myspace or get me here, or mercenary_graphics@yahoo.com September and October we have a pretty full dance card of artists, and looking to do some different things.

For general info to artists who may be interested, we set up in the lobby, but have some other twists we're taking a look at with State Theatre exec director Sue Richardson, as can run some shorts in the theatre, and we do a music guest typically, but visiting poets welcome, as of course the public, this is a free event.

Have nine artists on display in September, so up from the three of us who got this started with the State Theatre volunteers and staff, and music guest Dave Hanley. Bob White slated for October, and have seven in for that confirmed, so contact me, get on our list.

sculpture will be included in October, we started photography with our august event, with Solo Bassists Andres Cervantes and John Ady playing, Rachel Renae starting us out in July.

You've seen the photo blog from August posted here on modestofamous, gives you an idea what we've started, but the way of display may change a bit, depends on who's in, starting to work on some themes, etc, but want a venue to show work local artists, keep us a place to drop in on to see friends work in person.

some, why i put up the wanderlust and art forum topic

nobody else has entered that one yet, nor some of the other stuff brought here, and for an interactive site, was wondering what up with that.....

so, to continue a bit on, I"m no amateur at art, or loving art and the work of other artists period, in our area, around the world, and I'd like to encourage that thing, as I"ve taught kids and adult workshops, often in alternative art, and art scene underground here, needs to surface a bit.....quit bitching, make a difference, move it along, you got the hammer, like the indie music folks.

so, here is my post to my own forum topic, hoping it incite some content motown mojo wants, expand the art scene a bit.... as important to my mental health... we do have some folks who do it around the world, ....make yourselves known.

from the forum, post if you want, tired of cheerleading today.....

Rachel and I were talking a bit about her upcoming gig at Wanderlust, August 31 (remember, Modesto Critical Mass instructions on same day) and art, since she did our art walk event, mod art and wine, and why she came by Riverbank Art and Chalk walk, she loves art.

One of the things about Wanderlust, and i know this from my own visits there, and would love to get some of my art up one day, but also from doing my gallery years ago at home a few blocks away, is the challenge of Art in interesting angle, and narrow and high ceiling'd and different type of spaces as a display challenge, one that holds your interest in the place,

She really likes the narrow bathroom hall gallery, the big spot in the main area, and interested in the idea, playing in that space, where performance may be influenced by the art on musician.

DEVA has that thing too, and other cofee houses. The idea of open portfolio and open poetry slam on First Tuesday at Clix, interesting to me, as Nathan Anderson did walk on portfolio review for our second show at the State, which is a challenge to set up.

Queen Bean, I talk to Debra on all three stores, and the differences in the settings, the way the art fits in, interesting... we're working on some stuff in that, she as the owner, me as one of the artists working to show there, same as commonality has, and art show, and hand born.

Copper Rhino where bobtakenpics is one I should have gone in Xfest when Les invited me to bypass crowd, we're old friends, interesting choice to set up that spot as an art venue during art and wine fest.

Thymeless basement, now under new name and owners, with Andres Cervantes asking me to jam, for solo bass night, and we used the laptop slide show, interactive, draw while bassists play, started this thing where I do that like at Queen Bean, then find out where he, or B.T Busch, or other bassists post the drawings on fan support sites, or who grabbed it for a profile shot..... that started there.

so, venues are open guys, coffee houses, I used to display at the old bagel junction, upstairs gallery at Minnie's, J Street Cafe used to run shows, mondo java, deja vue, cafe cacao, even tree frog tavern of the no longer around venues, have supported art around here.

So, add which places doing it. obvious one by name, and can't miss the art, is Picasso's at 10th and J, they're on the art walk, so start adding some reviews, or suggest places to show.

Interesting recent show to me, Allen Passalaqua's show, of smaller images in watercolor, no matte, flat glass clip frames, on entry to prospect theatre, seen during productions, or poetry slam, complete with commentary by off the air, or slam on rye if you get an answer, and interesting use of the space. Those same images had a different feel and look on the grid at modesto art and wine fest, outside, not the same feel, as to the show, art the same great quality, but different venue,

so that's why i put up this forum topic, as the flickr show here at modestofamous in the group it has, at the flash function of the slide show, as ethernectart or others come up, type of online gallery, you can do shit like that, like Camille recently did on myspace we have featured on the modestoartx profile, of one of the group and friends members didital art, using art, photos, video, photoshop, etc, as something I'd like to work on exhibiting as a performance art project, as I am founder of a performance art project group.

Critical Mass, and some of you just introduced to that, via the modesto critical mass group, has in its basis, as does hyphy, in performance art. Cristo is most well known big practitioners, the umbrellas down the highway, the fabric walls for miles through marin,
but the assemblies of naked people in public square things, or the plasticized animal dung on public lino squares exhibitions, all type of performance art to make you think

modesto critical mass, good to see, like in some in bay area as if you've ever been there when it happens, and i mean just happens, as when they get going, that is how it goes, sometimes announced, sometimes just grows, is performance art that's grown worldwide.........love their new poster and theme, whoever they are.....know some..... but great to see it arrive in modesto. rooted in performance art, not quite theatre, not quite what you might think, but you could hang the bike on the wall,.... or on some dead, towed suv, you never know.........or arrive by max bus, on the bike rack,.......

promoter performance art - doing an event like x fest, the layout, type of and staging of bands, vendors, other events like tagger wall, xtreme sport demos, et al, type of performance art, conceptual concerts like Concert for Bangladesh, Woodstock, FarmAid, in that vein, though the money attached.... sort of conceptual

in pure form, money may or may not be relevant, the doing of it, the seeing of it, the make you think as well as artists doing it think the thing,
