Modesto Bass Nights [1]
[2] (Andres Cervantes noted some twit hacked this profile, and I couldn't post a comment earlier, so its being reviewed, according to bulletin)

at the queen bean, 14th Street, modesto, ca

From the collection of Modesto Bass Night, and Cold Fusion as posted by Mr. B. T. Busch of http://www.solodrums.com [3] four drawings from my sketch pad, while sitting with Cheryl having coffee listening to bass players doing their thing, on the 10 string, the fretless, six string, 4 and 5 string electric bass at the Queen Bean down on 14th Street.  This is a follow up, having been invited down to see Andres Cervantes and Friends at Tymeless Cuisine last month, as the jam artist to do some art while Andy played, this is a follow up, where Red Riding Hood and I out on a date, enjoyed some music, new friends, greeted by Andy's wife Donna at the Queen Bean coffee counter, (she is a manager at one of the art stores I last shopped at for my supplies NASCO -west) and little kids in attendance.  The ten string bass, an interesting instrument in sound, and look, that starts to capture you.  I don't have the audio here, but you can listen to a sampling at B.T.'s site, where he is not just drummer, but webmaster, and artist as well. I'm glad to be part of his gallery online.  http://www.solodrums.com [4]

I got a tee shirt for these fun drawings, as the caption notes I drew them while they were playing.  Players in order, Andres Cervantes, Randy Marshall, who drove over from the East Bay, and Alan Mehlhaff.  I usually see my other friends, starting with Dave Hanley playing outside under the canopies, but a bit windy last night, the setting, in the front room of the Queen Bean.

Now, the first three done as the players playing.  And without my glasses on, as I can see across the room, the difficulty then is seeing what I'm drawing, and done on 9 x 12 strathmore, with a type of laundry marker pen, so Jim can see sort of what he's doing.  Not quite James Thurber, but I used to draw his cartoons, then learned he was near blind.  I'm not that bad, but getting back to doing this when I'm at a show, I've noticed some slippage in hand, eye coordination in focus.

correct spellings, and titles, by B.T. Busch, and originally posted online at http://www.solodrums.com [10]  Art freely given to the players, and drummer as a thank you for the performance.  Last time, I kept some of the drawings, and let Andy steal one  from putting them up, this time, I gave them all up, and indebted to B.T. for scanning and upload, so all I had to was copy and paste. Cooperation among artists and musicians in promotion of the arts, and music, and Cold Fusion and Modesto Blues Nights, that sort of gig.

Now, as far as the coffee, atmosphere, The Queen Bean is unique in Modesto, a converted old house across the street from Graceada Park, the Drum Circle meets there, usually on wednesdays, and other friends play a good part of the week, often outside.  Its on 14th Street, can't miss the old house, the garden, and the coffee, well, we like it great, and Starbucks been playing same cuban music of late, such this was a nice change of pace.
