Hyphy police action results in $1M claim against local agencies

In the history of our site nothing has generated a more passionate response from our readers than the Hyphy incident that took place downtown last Labor Day weekend. Many people thought that the massive multi-agency police response was warranted while at the same time, many people thought that it was overkill.

The latest news in this saga is that the parents of star Central Catholic athlete, Louis Bland III have filed a $1M claim against the Modesto Police Department and Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department for allegedly violating their sons civil rights during the incident.

Bland was taken from the scene via ambulance and has since accumulated over $2,300 in medical bills related to the injuries that he allegedly suffered during the police action.
