It's going to be cold!

A cold front is moving in quickly and we are expected to get hit hard. Today would be a good day to get ready for the blast and help others that are less fortunate deal with it also.

It is days like this that make me realize how fortunate that I really am. I also begin to feel a bit guilty. I mean, there are people out there in the cold freezing and my Chihuahua is all wrapped up in her very own chenille throw. There is just something not right about that.

I will be at MJC today for part of the day but before I get there I plan on dropping off a few sweaters to people at Graceada Park that need them. Do what you can today to help. It will only take a few minutes of your time to buy someone a hot cup of java or cocoa. Sure, you may not know the man on the corner covered in cardboard, but he is human just like you.

Keep warm today Modesto! Bring in your pets and get out a bunch of blankets to cuddle up in.

other coat drives

It is cold, sidewalk in ice over my way. A place to drop off coats, other clothing, is at SCMHC Stanislaus Chapter of Mental Health Consumers, has an ongoing drive for folks who go out to SBHC, the mental health inpatient on Claus Road. SCMHC office is at Building 4, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, 800 Scenic, Modesto. Ask at Patients Rights if you choose to participate. many out in the cold on the streets, in parks, have a mental health issue, or dual diagnosis.

Also, a homeless guy I know, was in the park near me, with a table full of clothes he got for $5 at thrift store to give away to others like him, having to live outdoors in this weather. An actual witnessed note of homeless guy, helping other homeless folks. He wasn't charging. I turned down the offer to me, as I'm housed, have lots of sweaters.
