I believe I have been Jiggied...
So I get this call yesterday from Dan Diaz. If you are familiar with the local music scene, you will know that Dan is the man behind Jiggy. He is also Jiggy's dad. He pulls the strings to get Jiggy all over the place. Jiggy has played with countless rap celebs and credit has to be given to the elder Diaz.
Either way, I took a whole mess of shit when I featured Jiggy one Tuesday a while back and I just dug my heels into the shit and plowed ahead. Some readers were upset that the kid was just a "wannabe." Some called him a "spoiled rich kid with a lucky daddy." But I defended the Jiggmeister by explaining to folks that he was a kid just trying to get ahead when other kids were just causing trouble or according to The MPD, "getting all hyphy up in here."
Anyway, Diaz explained to me yesterday that he could not honor his request to play the "Each Day Counts" benefit show being put together for me. Now you read that right. It was his request to play the show. I did not ask the Jiggenheimer to bust out his fresh flow at my frantic fiesta. It was all his idea. Now, I am sort of bummed out over here in Mojo land.
You see, all over town posters are announcing that Jig will be at the show and I have even been told by a few folks that they would actually skip the show because the rapping phenom will be on the bill getting all jiggy over at Hero's.
But the bottom line for me is that I have never heard of someone backing out of something like this. But according to Diaz, Jiggy has the chance to be on KWIN Friday night and to get all that exciting multi-million dollar central California exposure he had to reconfigure his schedule.
So if you were only attending the show to get Jiggified, I am sorry. But I am not a bad guy just trying to bad mouth a local rapsta. I will say that Jig has just released two songs from his upcoming album and they don't suck at all. They are exactly what KWIN is playing is now and for some that sucks but it sells no matter what. You can probably hear one of these songs on KWIN on Friday night if you skip my show.
I hope that the show gets a decent turnout. Even without J-J-J-Jiggy, there will some awesome local artists rocking the stage. Look for E.A.R.L., The Evening News, Project 59 and The Kung Fu Conspiracy. I look forward to it. I hope you do also.
