The Scoop In Regards To Sept 29th, 2006

Hero's is closing the place down from 8pm - Midnight just for us! The lineup is as follows:

Doors at 7pm.
Project 59 (Band) - 8:00-8:30pm
Ruben speaks while The Evening News Changeover takes place.
The Evening News - 9:00-9:30
Matt Colp & Ruben Speak while The Kung Fu Conspiracy Change Over Takes Place
The Kung Fu Conspiracy - 10:00-10:30
Ruben Speaks from 10:30-10:45
EARL- 10:45-11:15

** As you can see I have placed The Kung Fu Conspiracy and Earl closer to the drinker times, due to your draws being much more in the 21+ range. The house is limited seating at 150 MAX occ with upstairs and downstairs OPEN. Like I said the place is ours from 8 to Midnight, and I expect each band to NOT OVER PROMOTE. If more than 130ppl are brought I (MATT COLP) will get my face yelled at.

To ensure a FULL HOSUE while each band plays, Raffle ticket prizes will be drawn and Ruben will be speaking after EACH band plays.

If anybody has any questions please message me for contact information.

Flyers, donation buckets and a killer banner is all in the works by Clark Miller, Megan Porras, Katie Martin, Daniel Cano, Shy Singh and a handful of great friends.

God bless, and thank you everyone for taking part, and look in the Modetso Bee as Marijke Rowland will be doing an article on it within the next couple of weeks.

More Details TBA.

MOJO

Have you ever had a friend who was always willing to take the blame for you? Who stood up for you although you weren't always correct. Who gave you their Myspace password. Well I do, and I believe you do as well. Ruben Porras is a man who has guided me through dark caves, and has personally given a new viewpoint on life to me. Learning to appreciate is one thing, but appreciating the learning process isn't always easy. With Ruben present, those boring weekends turn into nights of laughter. Whether being sick or down is in my agend, I can always rely on those random text messages at 2 am asking if I were awake. Ladies and gentlemen it is about time we give back to Ruben what he has GIVEN OUR COMMUNITY. Without him the music scene wouldn't be as vibrant as it is(special thanks to Chris Murphy, Greg Edwards, and Chris Ricci as well). Without his blogs on "appreciating life" we wouldn't have enjoyed the trips to Wal-Mart at one in the morning. Without his life lessons we would have no respect for diversity and culture. Let's face it, the man is a modern day Modesto Doctor Phil, only much cooler. An event at Hero's Sports Bar (821 L Street) will be held in honor of raisng money to go to Ruben Porras' "Each Day Counts" foundation. The door will be set at $5.00 and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the foundation for medical funding, medicine etc. Your money will go to great cause, and you will get Four Live Bands. The bands will be listed on the front page of ModestoFamous.com along with the date and time. The Modesto Bee's own Marijke Rowland will also assist with making the effort for this fundraiser inviting. Everyone and anyone willing to help please contact me immediately at (209)602-3482. Two slots for the musical acts are filled, thus leaving two open spots. If you would like to take part in this event please contact me immediately. Otherwise I will book the open set times within the next week. Godbless,

Life Is Good!

Well as everybody knows Mr. Ruben Porras is the man behind the Fame. He is the one who runs this site, and is also a good friend of ours. His endeavors have left all of us with open ears and open hearts. His need to always give, give, give is being recognized. We, the people need to reward him. A handful of musicians/friends of Ruben's are going to be putting on a benefit concert for him. I cannot name half of the people running this ceremony, but I guarantee they are ALL from Modesto. My number is (209)602-3482 if anybody has any questions or would like to help, feel free to call ANYTIME. Ruben, the editor in charge, is fully aware of this event, and is modest about it. Let's make this event huge. Let's show the man himself how much Modesto lovin' there is for him! Like I said, about a dozen people are turning the wheels on this event, I am only a mere assitant. Everyone who helps WILL be fully recognized.

Greg E. + Chris R.+ Chris M.

An odes to Greg E. for creating/managing "Off The Air." A man full of dignity and passion for our local music scene, as well as music in general. A man who is a husband, a hero, and an everyday Joe making our lives stay in tact with what is going on, and always sparking up entertainment in our beautiful town. Chris R., a talent buyer/concert promoter/husband. He is the reason why Modesto HAS music. He gives a pulse to our town and I want to personally thank him for being such a role model in the music scene. He has brought joy to many faces, and continues to impress everyone around him. Last but most certainly not least, Mr. Chris M. himself for managing/creating Modesto View. He is the eye, the brain and the ears of our town's life and he records it all in a comforting magazine. These three monumental figures will forever be in our hearts as some of the most established people in the music scene. On behalf of Modesto, thank you gentlemen for working so hard to achieve so much for our beautiful town!
