Local band "NOT 4 NOTHIN" aka "N4N" has recently been added to the X-Fest bill. N4N will be playing on the "Hawk 104.1" stage at 8:30pm sharp. Not many local bands make a "main stage" during X-Fest. Be sure to watch their set, and support local music!

Dredg @ The State theatre April 19th with Evaline.

Not sure how many people know about this show but if you like a GREAT alternative/indie rock band you should come watch Dredg. Its actually quite an honor to have them playing in our fine city.

Dredg is a major label band from the bay area who combines an eclectic high energy sound with psychadelic colors. I have seen this band about 3 times and they are worth the money. Check out a song called "Ode To The Sun" you will see what I mean. Ticket info can be found at the State Theatres web site. www.thestate.org

Also performing Evaline, and Jupiter is Useless. Both band are from Turlock, CA. Evaline is signed to Maverick records, which means they are label mates with Deftones.(sweet)

Anyways, I was pumped to hear about this show. Come on out and let Modesto know we like national acts!

As a local performer myself I think it is valuable to let my peers know how well we are doing. I have compiled a small list of local bands that I beleive are at the next level. When I say "next level" I mean their performance and songwriting skills have what it takes to go on tour to support national acts.
Here is my small list of local bands/performers that I think has what it takes to go further is their particular genres. I you have more please reply with your thoughts. I would love to check them out as well.

Fat Skeleton- Great musicianship and probably one of the best guitar players in the valley with Chandler Pratt.

Not 4 Nothin- A diverse band with a great stage show. Music is not typical of Modesto bands which is a good thing! Hopefully more bands like N4N are awaiting in the wings.

Deriva- A merced based band that is so easy to listen too with their alternative sounds. These guys have radio ready songs and a professional ear.

EARL- Great live show!! Comedy meets music in an exciting way.
