I was downtown with a friend on Monday night and we noticed that Aquashi was closed. From the notice on the door, it appears that they have had their license to serve alcohol suspended.
I was a big fan of the sushi there, but I was not big on the dance party/club side of the business. I really hope that they don't close. Where else in town can I get sushi at midnight? » read more

Modesto Scrabble Club will hold it's first offical gathering on May 7th at the Queen Bean Coffee House in Modesto from 7:00-9:00pm. We then plan to meet every first and third Wednesday (same place, same time). Humans of any age (and that are capable of playing a decent game) are encouraged to join. There is no fee. Players are asked to bring a Scrabble board and official Scrarbble Dictionary. Riverbank Community Theater takes steps to further establish a tradition of the fun time summertime musical as it announces auditions for “Bye-Bye Birdie" on May 3 at 9 a.m. in Escalon.
Last summer RCT re-opened the Del Rio Theater with a rendition of “Oklahoma!" that had the city talking. Five of the six August shows were sold out and numerous people were turned away as word of the outstanding singing, dancing and pageantry spread. » read more
